Mike Darcy, LMFT
My professional orientation is rooted in Attachment Theory, as well as Developmental psychology practices. My approach combines traditional talk therapy utilizing solution-focused and cognitive based theory, and alternative modalities such as, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is an eye-movement treatment; and Equine Assisted Psychotherapy which utilizes horses as part of treatment.
I’ve been practicing marriage and family therapy for 7 years, providing therapeutic services for at-risk youth and their family members, school based adolescent social and emotional counseling, and work with veterans and family. I’m retired U.S. Navy, and bring a unique perspective to both civilian, active-duty service members, and veterans who experience adjustment related issues, lifes changes, grief and loss, and those experiencing symptoms of trauma. I enjoy working with horses and have begun incorporating them into my practice’s trauma and couples work.
I hold a Masters of Science degree in Counseling Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, from California Lutheran University with a concentration in Attachment Theory. I also earned my Bachelors degree from Chapman University in Criminal Justice.
